Re: (ET) Transformer in, charging

.................It was by adding another uF in parallel to the existing 4uF that I made that 'discovery'  on my first ET, an E-10 M.  :)

Wouldn't be so much as the capacitor would be WRONG, just that it wouldn't be as efficient as another size. You should have 42VDC on the output and no more than 0.5VAC with no batteries connected. Mainly select the capacitor based on the AC value. Just don't test it for too long without batteries connected. My experience has been that the 4uf cap is plenty for most transformers.

Subject:(ET) Transformer in, charging

Ok, thanks to an excellent list member and his son (who I met for a delicious lunch and chat) I have replaced the transformer in my E15. Now it's charging, which is good. However I have no idea what transformer this is and am still using the 20uf capacitor. How would I know if the cap is wrong?_______________________________________________Elec-trak mailing listElec-trak cosmos phy.tufts.eduhttps://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mailman/listinfo/elec-trak
