Re: (ET) Card 1 wire 8 or...

so this is what makes me wonder, is this an earlyish control or what, maybe I should update that wiring. All other wiring on card 1 and card 3 seems to conform to the wiring diagrams I have in hand.  Will look at my E12-S and see if it has the different wiring. It would seem that exposing the card to the higher armature voltage would make the reversing slower, slower being better, since I went through a few relays before giving up on the card for reversing and using a switch on the E12-S

"Fast Reversing" is the Achilles Heel of that control system. Put every effort into avoiding moving the throttle into the Reverse gate unless you are certain that the armature has stopped. There is a good reason that OPEO abandoned that configuration in subsequent production.

Thanks

So, double checking with my meter, the wire on pin 6 is definitely wire 6, as the difference is where they connect IRT the toaster resistors. It is not looking through the toaster to see the heavy wire 6, which means it is looking through the toaster to see the armature, and, if I understand correctly, pin 7 is what looks at the armature voltage to prevent sudden reversals

I did find one schematic that shows wire 6 on pin 7, a partial on page 41 of the homeowners manual online[mine is at home] or page 1-35

seems it would allow faster reversing in this mode

Umm, I have all of the manuals, although I am not looking at all of them now, but that is why I know the wiring diagram says it should be wire 8 and it is in fact wire 6. This is an original AFAIK unmodified machine. The original connectors used on the card edge fell off the card from just opening the panel, and are brittle so I have replaced them with a 'real' edge card connector, and in the process of doing so kept track of the wire numbers thus discovering the anomaly

Is there an earlier/later wiring diagram that shows this as normal?

Do you possess a Homeowners Service Manual? If not, I can PM you some helpful illustrations.

The information on the plate riveted to the front battery compartment would be most helpful......  :)

Mine seems to have wire 6 where wire 8 wants to be [pin 7] and it rings out to be wire 6 and is labelled as such

This is on the machine I just bought and I have not run it, and it has not run in a very long time

ideas?
