Re: (ET) tiller motor as generator?



You would need to connect an external voltage regulator between the motor and battery.  It basically shorts the field to turn the motor into a generator.  It would be similar to the motor/generator setup on the old Cub Cadet and JD garden tractors.

You cant leave us hanging after making a statement like that! I understand that a drive motor could be used as a gen as long as you applied 36v to the field. But what is this about controlling the output amps via the field?
