In my experience, battery maintainers (regardless of design) almost always 
do more harm than good.  While it's true that flooded batteries have a bit 
more self discharge than gel or AGM types, if you keep your  battery tops 
clean and dry, and they're stored at cool temperatures, they shouldn't 
need 
any charging at all for a good 3-4 months.  

Consider that new batteries often sit at the dealer that long or more.

When you're ready to use the batteries again, just give them a topoff 
charge.
