1. Try living with it first. I think your I5 has more speeds than my EGT-150, and mine is OK A little clunky, but OK. If you want seamless power you install an Alltrax conroller.
3. Not sure, but I think my EGT-150 (same as GE ET, but two parent companies later) has a 36V lift motor. It probably bolts right into your ET if you can find one. As for lights, you might find 36V bulbs don't last long (the filaments can't handle the bumps & vibration). I'd look for a cheap surplus DC-DC.
4. Check for obvious loose bits. If that doesn't fix it, take your blades off and check for balance. With a little insight and care you can slap together a serviceable hillbilly style balancing rig. Judicious use of a grinder will work to bring them into balance. I did the same and brought my loud, grating, buzzing deck to a stout but smooth whir.
