Because it's a tractor. You WANT it to have lots of mass. This is the
perfect application for lead batteries.
Lithium batteries are the current fad, and they have many applications,
but
they're not appropriate for everything.
Their major advantage is a much higher specific energy. That'ds obviously
useful for a road EV, but not for a tractor. The only case I can think of
where high SE batteries would be useful is where the tractor's mission
requires very long run times. Even then, an outrigger lead battery box is
probably a more reasonable solution.
