Regarding sickle bars - I do have one that I use from time to time. The
thing is enough of a moose that it just lives full time on the back of one
of my E-20s.

I'm looking for a rototiller attachment for my E12m.

Thanks,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't most of the E12M's have
bushings instead of bearings in the rear axle? My thought was that the
weight of the rotiller could cause damage to the bushings and you could
have leaks there.

The rototiller, bar, and lift are kind of heavy (250? 300? lbs total
weight), and all that weight would be /right/ on the rear axle. I'm
sure people have done it, I just don't know if I would. Personally I
would find a E15 or even E12s, or better yet a E20 (or C185 or EGT200),
and put it on there. Could also upgrade the transmission...Might be
cheaper then adding another tractor to the herd. :)

It's kind of a mix. Technically the tiller sits on the ground and
bounces up and down, trying to push the elec-trak ahead of it. You
really need LL in order to keep the tractor from going forward.

The weight is both on the axle and on the rear mount bar behind the
axle. When you lift it, it's mostly on the lift itself.

So I don't know if it's that much of a killer. If you run around with
150 pounds of weight in the rear for blowing snow the tiller won't be
much worse.

When I first read that a sickle bar mower existed for ETs, I lusted after
one. I thought, "Just the thing to tackle all the weeds and brush that I
can't seem to keep under control here."

Then I saw a picture of one in action, and the affair ended before it had
even begun. As Tom says, she's a moose.

I expect the SBM would work great for someone with dozens of acres in the
rough. For me, it would be senseless overkill. Besides, short of building
a full size barn, I couldn't imagine where I would store the beast.
