Sounds like a leaking post-to-cover seal, from either the positive or negative post.

Try twisting a piece of paper towel up....like a rope....and wrapping a piece around each post.   Check after 16-24 hours.  The wet one is your culprit.

Completely clean and dry the post and cover, apply some hot glue around the base of the post where it comes up from the battery top, and that should fix it.

On the other hand, maybe the battery is just sad, and.......oh, never mind.  :-)
