Hmmm... I'm not sure about that either. The E14's I've seen are permanent magnet, essentially the same as E12JA's.From the documentation closest at hand, the E14 AA & RJ use the later control scheme with the 5 discrete round contactors on the lower panel, no field weakening resistors, and a permanent magnet motor.
The E14 RC, RD, and RH use the earlier controls with the "siamese" double contactors on the lower panel and the square PTO contactor on the upper panel. As no field weakening resistors are shown, it could also be permanent magnet. I've never seen any of the "R" versions in person to know for sure.
Either way the E14 on eBay is a deal as there should be another zero on the price.

Hmmm... I didn't know that. According to the listing, this one is an AA. The E-14 has a permanent magnet drive motor; very similar to a huge deck motor. If I was 500 miles closer, judging by pics alone, I'd bid up to 400 bux for that machine. As it stands now, it would cost me $300 and two days just to go pick it up. Plus I already have an E-14 in the same condition, sans mower deck. Located in Marengo, Illinois (so a little too far from me). Note that I know nothing about the seller or the tractor other than what is listed in the auction.
