there is no need to go to zero before switching. The Allrax handles a reverse switch very well as it decelerates and accelerates in reverse. I have used a momentary contact on both conversions I have done. A lot of time I don't even lift from the throttle, just hit reverse and go. I was thinking of doing just that by adding a center-tapped 10K pot to the factory throttle lever (yes, I found some!), and using the factory reverse microswitch. That way, the reverse option would have a built in safety that it could only be engaged by first going to zero throttle. The factory lever has enough drag built in to remain steady, and I'm used to a lever throttle on a mower. > > For now, I'm using a knob and a separate switch until I get the mechanicals ironed out. > > Can't tell you how well it works yet, as the restoration is only 50% completed, and the garage is too hot to work in for the moment here in Savannah. But hopefully this fall I'll be able to make a first mow and put up a restoration album. > > David Brandt > > > --- On Mon, 6/15/09, David Roden (Akron OH USA) <etpost drmm net> wrote: > > > From: David Roden (Akron OH USA) <etpost drmm net> > > Subject: Re: (ET) Alltrax controller question > > To: Elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu > > Date: Monday, June 15, 2009, 11:29 PM > > On 15 Jun 2009 at 19:55, Tom G > > wrote: > > > > > Has anybody set up an Alltrax or curtis with a dash > > stick control > > > similar to an 12S ? > > > > I don't know how similar it is, but after experimenting > > with a couple > > different foot pedal lashups, I ended up using a spare > > Solectria potbox I > > had lying around, mounted to the instrument panel.
