Re: (ET) My 'new' E12S

Yeah the front lift is a bit weak, but by and large it works.

The belt drive seems to work fine.

Actually I'm simple amazed at how good these tractors are. I pulled my first E12S out of a pile of junkers. It had been out in the elements many years. I had it running in a couple days. Just needed batteries, a couple connectors cleaned, and unfreezing the brake pedal shaft.

It's interesting to hear from someone who was there at the time. Being an engineer I'm always interested in how and what trade-offs are made. Hearing about how time compressed you were, it's even more impressive how good the tractor came out. You ought to be proud!

No I've opened a bag of worms .... ;-)

The two biggest, in my mind, were the front lift assembly using a car electric door window motor and the belt drive from the traction motor to the trans axle. But that was 39 years ago and I couldn't begin to remember all the details now ...

If we had had more time there were a number of things that were talked about doing that just didn't happen for lack of time and money ....
