Good point. I had assumed he loosened the nut enough so that the blade now spins freely on the shaft and so can't use it as a lever to keep the shaft from turning. That action would require it to be right hand thread.
Looking at the motor from the blade end... does the blade normally travel clockwise? If so then the nut is most likely left handed.
Are the shaft threads exposed? If so, wire brush them really clean. Then try again. If that doesn't work wire brush it again, and then use KROIL, PB-Blaster, Liquid Wrench, Coca-Cola or similar products. WD-40 might even work.
