Re: (ET) Drive belt slipping?

Here's a truely great way to tension those motor belts

Loosen the motor mounting bolt

Take a ratchet strap around the motor body and front axle

Ratchet the motor snug

Tighten the motor mount

Done

You should be able to loosen the mounting bolts on the motor mount and
slide it away from the transmission. It can be a bit difficult, having a
pry bar can help. If that doesn't solve the problem, then its time to
think about new belts.

Is there an easy way to tighten the belt? I have an E20 with a squealing
belt. Thanks.

Have you retensioned the belts since you installed them? It is normal for
belts to stretch in use so that may be a cause. Slipping belts tend to
squeal though. If you're not hearing squealing, then I would look to
something else for the problem. If they are slipping, try to avoid using
belt dressing. It's only a band-aid solution.
