Disaster waiting to happen!
A belt on my New Idea twisted this last weekend and I discovered
a potential problem when I tried to fix it. I started to jack up the rear
of tractor to gain better access to the belts when I noticed
that the tractor frame was going up, but the tranny housing was not? Both
mounting block welds were broken from the frame of the tractor and the only
thing keeping the rear end on, was the actual weight of the tractor itself. I
don’t know how long ago these welds broke, but I sure am glad that I
discovered them before hitting a big object and having the thing go out from
under the tractor. I was able to re-weld both flange blocks to the frame
without tearing down the entire tractor. Made sure that these new welds
are super strong and twice the length of the original ones.
