The web site got left out of the last message.  Here it is:

Mike,

Here is the Toro listing with the actual blade length, so you can
measure and see if they will fit around your baffles.  They are
#90943.  Sorry, I have never checked the amperage since that one time
several years ago.  The extra current draw seems to cause no harm.
It might reduce your mow time somewhat if you have a large yard.

Barry,

Sometime back you said that the current draw for a standard blade
was 6 amps while the 90-414 Gator blade had a current draw of 11.5
amps.  Are those numbers still accurate/relevant?

And what is the part number for the Toro set of shorter blades?

Yes.  Steve S. made bushings  that reduced the 5/8" hole of the
GatorBlades.

The blades that fit are for the DixieChopper,  part number  90414.
These would probably be too large if you have baffles in your deck.
They have a 42" set for Toro that is slightly shorter and might work
if you have the internal baffles.

Did you need to make shaft adapter bushings for those blades

Dave,

If you install a set of Gatorblade mulching blades, it is not
necessary to mulch in reverse.  They do a nice job in the normal
forward mode.

Today my wife and I spent the afternoon mulching leaves in the

the front
yard where I had mulched with the E20 and actually made two passes
over the
lawn, the first pass forward the second pass backwards. It really
looked
great but my neck felt like it was permanently twisted from
looking
backwards so long. Has anyone figured out why the results are
better when
backing up? Did anyone find an easy safe way to run the front
mounted mower
backwards? I have a very difficult time trying to back the E20 and
keep the
mower in the same tracks.  Or better, have you found a way to
mount the seat
on hood or backwards, and steer the mower backwards with an
altered steering
wheel arrangement? Maybe I am alone in this wish, but surely there
are many
thoughts on the Digest which may help.  Please let me hear your
thoughts.
