Do you mean Nichrome ribbon ? 

I think there are 2 grades (percentage of various metals - nickel & etc)

Also, you can buy various widths and thicknesses.

If this is what you mean, I bought some via internet from a place in 
Florida, 
I think (To make an Electrak Welder - the stuff I bought was 1/2" 
wide -similar to the ribbon wrapped around those plates in the front).  

They offered 15 ft lengths for engineering - NOT samples, but cut from 
much 
longer rolls.
