Re: (ET) 1A contactor needed--was lost speeds 2 and 3

In my attempt to get the middle and high speeds back in my E12, I've found that apparently contactor 1A is bad. The coil measures 36V when in speed 2 and the large lugs read 1.5V, even after removing and cleaning all contacts. Also checked the resistors up front, and cleaned all those contacts. . I'm GUESSING that if I have 36V at the coil, and don't have ZERO V at the leads to the resistors, my contactor is bad? Bypassed the contactor completely and now have what appears to be speed 3. Previously I had tried pressing the power pulse button when the lever was in the high speed position and the motor was turning at low speed but this made no change. I would have thought this was equivalent to bypassing the 1A contactor? (PP button checked OK.)

Well, pressing the power pulse switch will bypass 1a/2a by energizing the contactors. The switch is not big enough to directly bypass the main motor current :-)

EVParts has the contactor for around $30 or so. Given that it's a real pain to pull that out and put a new one in, I'd get a new one.
