Re: (ET) mulching

When I converted from rear to side, I purchased a rear baffle from Bill Gunn.  It channels the flow to the side openning.  Removing the side panel does make for a weaker unit.

Does anyone have pictures of the bottom of a side-discharge deck?

On a rear-discharge deck, I tried taking out the baffle and removing the
cover plate on what would appear to be the side discharge outlet... it
didn't make it discharge to the side all that well, and didn't mow any
better, but without the cover panel the deck became flimsy and more
susceptible to damage. Is there something more to making a
side-discharge than just removing the cover?
