Re: (ET) Need Help on Restoration

Hello James T.

See:

http://www.elec-trak.org/

for manuals, etc. Look through several as some have good tutorials on troubleshooting and hwo to read electrical schematics.

For parts check:

or ebay

The E12S is a very good machine to start on. It is a 'large frame' machine so it can take all the accessories, but it is not as complicated electrically as the E15 or E20 (bigger brothers).

That said, you are dealing with 30+ year old electricals that have been sitting outside for a while. You will find bad connections, bad contacts, frozen whatnots, etc. On the plus side, mechanically these machines are simpler than gas tractors - there just aren't many moving parts.

Good luck,

I recently came across 2 almost completely destroyed GE E12s Elec-Trak
tractors. They are on some land my cousin bought from an old man years
ago. They have been stripped of wheels and one of them has been on its
side. Both the the gearboxes are in a pile nearby. I was thinking of
restoring them or at least one of them. I have very little knowledge of
tractors or of electric motors. I was wondering if there was a place I
oculd get a manual or repair guide and if you can still order parts for
them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
