Hi,
I've heard that synthetics can wick past seals too, but I replaced  
the oil in my E-15 with Mobil 1 gear lube about 15 years ago without  
any issues... I've never had trouble with any of my (4) older ('82s  
and '83s) motorcycles that I change over to either.
