I have an older one similar to these. I can't be positive, not having
actually used one of the HF testers, but from a visual inspection the
Chinese-made HF tester appears to be a copy of my 15 year old Korean-made
one from NAPA (which, IIRC, was also about $50).
Mine doesn't apply enough of a load to test a 6 volt battery; only the
obviously worthless batteries test "weak." It's barely enough to properly
test a small 12 volt starter battery.
A lot of the tools HF sells should probably be considered disposable (use
them a few times and throw them away). Worse, cheap tools and test gear
are
generally more frustrating than useful. I didn't get a useful battery
load
tester for $50. I sure as heck wouldn't expect one for $20, but I might
be
wrong.
