Re: (ET) Outdoor ET Storage

A real sexy way that I have used in the past is to buy/build an enclosed
utility trailer and park it in there. That way the trailer is the shed,
the town ordinance is circumvented (it's a registered over-the-road
vehicle), and when I need a trailer (usually to help a friend move), I
temporarily move the tractor into the garage. The one modification to the
trailer I did was to put a trailer jack on all four corners to 1) lift the
trailer clear of the ground, saving the tires from flat spot disease), and
2) supporting and stabilizing the trailer when used as a garage for my
tractor.

Good luck.

Bob

Subject: (ET) Outdoor ET Storage

I have an interesting dilmena for which I'd like those in the know to help
solve or at least provide ideas.

I moved in 2004. At my previous house, I had a nice covered patio area
where I could store my ET, and it even had an outdoor power outlet
conveniently located in it. That made a great outdoor area to store my
ET. Basically, there was a large concrete & brick covered porch built on
piers over the patio area. It allowed my ET to be protected from
precipitation, but also be in outdoor storage, so it didn't occupy my
garage or shed. It was "climate controlled" but at least it stayed dry.

My current house does not have that nice feature. As such, I have been
storing my ET in one of my garage bays, evicting my car. That fact has
been grating on me, since I like to have my car protected from the
elements also.

I would like to once again have my ET in outdoor storage, but I do not
want to have it subjected to precipitation, nor do I want it to be away
from that "life-giving" power outlet it so desperately needs. I also want
it to stay close to my driveway/front of house, because it's primary
purpose in life is plowing & hauling, not lawn mowing anymore because the
terrain just doesn't like it (and I caved and got a lawn service).

Soooo, I once pursued the idea of getting a permanent shed, with slab
foundation, next to my garage, and powered by the nearby house. However,
that entire plan fell through, because the town I'm in said sheds can only
be in the backyard by definition, and they do not grant "placement
variances" to that rule. So, no shed beside my house, and locating the
shed behind my house is just not feasible because of the lack of space and
sloping terrain.

So, I thought about various "temporary" structures. However, I found none
big enough (or way too big). I have an E20 with tool box on the back, and
always an implement on the front. The temporary sheds I've seen are all
wide enough, but not nearly long enough to accomodate this "monster".

Has anyone found a good way to store an ET outside that did not involve a
permanent structure (or one that would blow away in a stiff wind)?
