One other suggestion I've seen previously is just to add a separate 18V
battery & charger (charger can be outside the ET) and just run the 18V/12V
stuff off the dedicated battery, leaving the 36V series for all 36V-native
applications. If there isn't much room under the hood for an extra batt, I
know there's plenty of room in the rear weight box or toolbox.
I'm not advocating or critizing this solution, just that I've seen it
suggested before. It's probably the cheapest and simplest solution, being
just the cost of a battery and charger. DC-to-DC converters can get quite
expensive, especially in the high amperage range.

Ok, I love my Elec-trak's new flooded NiCD pack. I haven't even had to
water the cells...
However there is a problem in paradise: NiCDs hate to be tapped. And I use 18 volts a lot for
things.
So I need a 36 volt to 18 volt converter for the front lift (30amps), rear lift (same) and all
my little tools (up to 30a). Any suggestions on what I could use?
I guess I could just go with a Curtiss GC controller wired to 18 volts or something. But I'd
prefer another suggestion.
