I've been using mine on 24 volts for at least 5 years.  So far, no 
problems. 
 I use the "double reduction" strap routing for both the mower deck and 
the 
blade.

I have to use either 12 or 24 volts because I use 12 volt batteries in the 
tractor.  Actually, when I originally fitted the batteries, I meant to 
connect the lift to 12 volts but used the wrong terminal.  It was a couple 
of years before I realized it was on 24 volts.
