(ET) New Idea version of the E-10

I have a question about how hot the drive motor should get on my E-100 (New
Idea version of E-10 ).  

Last week I put new bearings in the drive motor (it is MUCH quiter now) and
might have messed up by bendng the fan blades.  I mowed the yard today 
(yeah
I know it may be early for most of you but Springtime in Florida comes
early), and the motor smelled hot, so I check the temp with my small
thermometer and got a reading of over 160 degrees (slid it inside on the
brush end).  

How hot should the motor get???  It just stopped me once, but after 5
minutes started back (over temp protection?)...
