Tim, I have an external Lester charger that I could open up and get you part specs (assuming they're readable). The internal charger got removed long before I bought the tractor and the timer-based Lester came with it when I got it. I actually have two Lester chargers - one with the simple timer and the other an automatic that keys off voltage and current draw (I'm guessing) to determine when the batteries are charged. I normally use the automatic one and found it by chance at a local pawn shop for about $25. Let me know and I'd be glad to help. --joe -----Original Message----- From: Markus Lorch Sent: Mon 1/31/2005 8:50 AM To: 'Chapin, Tim'; elec-trak cosmos phy tufts edu Cc: Subject: RE: (ET) Charger repair. Tim, I think the capacitor that is used in the elec tracts may not be the one needed for the lester charger (actually I would be surprised if their transformer design required the exact same capacitor). But this is just an assumption. If I saw right then the capacitor on the elec-traks is not used on the output but on an extra winding. That winding would have to be the exact same design on the lester for the capacitors to match. Or your lester may use the capacitor on the output and thus require a lower voltage, but higher capacitance capacitor? If I remember right than a higher capacity will lead to a higher output value (up to a certain threashold). Others may be able to explain better.
