Re: (ET) Tire chains source?
Steve and other chain lovers,
I was warned by Bill Gunn as well as two local tractor supply companies to
stay away from the 4 link chains. The spacing on 4 link chains is wide
enough that the tractor axle can slip, grab, slip, grab, etc, when driving
on slippery surfaces. Every time the axle slips then grabs the driveline
is mechanically shocked. They (all three) claimed that they had seen many
transmissions that used 4 link chains that were damaged, but far fewer
damaged transmissions that used 2 link chains.

Wherever you get them, check the price diff btwn 4 link and 2 link
chains. I think the 2 link are worth a reasonable extra cost.
