(ET) hot wires

Richard, have you checked as to what happens with the motor 
disconnected, may be a short in the wires..  Also, unless you have a 
"low ohms"  meter it may be hard to check the armature, the usual 
cheapies aren't sensitive enough  so will show like a short.
