I had a different failure mode; the rivets came off! The thermal breaker
is supposed to be
coupled by the metal bracket to the motor. Nope. It still tripped as the
can makes a little
oven, but probably at a much higher temperature than planned.

I had the same problem with the breaker in the front lift motor,
it also was welded and my coils shorted, thus drawing excessive
amperage and tripping the fuse (which had been replaced by a
previous owner with a resetting circuit breaker)
