(ET) Quality of ET List Discussion

For what it's worth, I want to add my full support of David Roden's statement excerpted below.  I've been a list member since (I think) 1997 and though I post little, I have read every post.  While "scholarly and gentlemanly discourse" is hardly the expectation for an open discussion list, the posts from this list come the closest of any I belong to.  By contrast, I subscribe to several lists in the area of my interest in small electric vehicles, where you can hardly get through one day's digest without running into flames, shouting, profanity, and off-topic stuff.  The members of the ET list for some reason seem to have a finely developed sense of self-discipline and manners.  I can remember only four or five times when our moderator has had to step in, I believe mostly to keep us on topic.  It's a pleasure and a privilege to look forward to posts where you can get the meat without wading through the junk.  Hooray for all of you!

(Snip)...."I don't think it's at all fair
to characterize the dialogue on this list as "bulls**t."  This is one of the
most useful lists to which I subscribe.  It's almost unfailingly on-topic.
The members are dignified, thoughtful, helpful, and respectful of one another.
Probably calling the list's content "wet sweepings" (thanks to my high school
German teacher for that one ;-) wasn't Keith's intent - he may have been
quoting Bill on it - but I still don't think it's true.  This is a fine list
with a fine bunch of members, and I for one thank all of you.
