For all its weaknesses, my older B&D MM450 corded push mower, with a PM 
motor 
(which type I think the battery mowers also use) has ^never^ stalled.  It 
barely slows down unless the grass gets really thick and wet.  But it does 
tend to leave thick-stalked weeds partly standing, needing at least one 
extra 
pass to cut them down.
