RE: (ET) Mower motor flange problem

Did the flange come off, or did parts of the flange come off?

If parts of the flange came off, I have seen thin steel rings made to go
over the flange and
re-attach it to the mower. I have two (in use). If the flange came off,
you need to arc-weld
tack the motor to the flange, keeping it square. Do NOT gas-weld it; you
will overheat the
glue on the magnet. I have done it, squirting a bit of water on after
each tack. Arc-welding
is high local heat, but lower overall heat. BTW, this is one way of using
a motor with the
wrong flange position on a deck; for example a mid mount mower motor on a
front mount deck has
the same flange but at a different height. BTW, epoxy does NOT work; been
there/done that.

Subject: (ET) Mower motor flange problem

One of my mower motors has popped loose from the mounting flange.
Paranoid that I am, I don't want to do anything that will wreck the
magnets in the housing. Anybody got a solution?
