(ET) 48v ET



One of the reasons I think a 48 volt system os good os that I am thinking of doing a conversion, which , means I get the correct motor voltages at the outset. I am thinking that there are a lot of 48v forklifts out there, and there would be contactors, relays, motors, hydraulic pumps, Etc. available as junk. if one was in the right place at the right time. One of the reasons I haven't picked up an electrak yet is that they are expensive and rare out here in cali, and I am not 100% sure one will be up to the job I have for it. We currently use a 43 HP kubota on our 60 acre ranch. There are definitely some things that a smaller tractor would do just fine, but I am actually thinking of converting a larger tractor like the pictures I found here:

We have electric golf carts that we use for all sorts of things and the first conversion will be a 48v golf cart so we can use electricity for weed eating, chainsawing, welding, and running the well when the power goes out. it is possible I will end up with a double battery bank which would handicap the mobility a bit with the weight but enhance the electrical out put.
EBAY has tons of random motors and misc electrcal stuff.
Nothing that time and money won't do! :-)

P.S. I love hearing about all the solar charging ideas, I hope to do a "solar roof " on a golf cart.

Is a 48v ET doable? It would make things much simpler.
I could yank out that dratted charger and squeeze 4
batteries in that area. E12
Obviously it wouldn't void the warrenty but would it
fry the components with 33% more voltage. (visions of
Tim "tooltime" breaking stuff)
I am setting up Photovoltaics to do my charging
(shortage of big wattage PV in the US, Germany, soon
Italy and Spain are greening their countries with
federal subsidies so our prices are up)
24 and 48 volts seem a lot easier to get components
for

I would up the system voltage to 48, which allows
