Yep. Bad idea. What happens is that two batteries get dragged low, then when you charge they overcharge while the other 4 don't get fully charged. Repeat for awhile; bad batteries.

*now* If you want to do this, there are battery balancers that can sit there and "charge" the 12 volt set that you are draining from the other 24 volt batteries. Then after it's "done" you can charge the now flat but balanced pack. Limit of 5-10 amps per hour, but it's a start. Check with solar home houses.

- Yes, but if it used a lot you'll be unbalancing the battery charges
(discharges) - this can cause trouble (as I understand it) with getting
correct charging using the 36V charger.
