(ET) ELEC-TRAK PULLING CONTEST PREPARATION

At this time of year, many compact tractor pulling contests are

Being held at fairs and various shows. In order to get the maximum

Performance from the Elec-Trak tractors in dead weight sled pulling

Contests, you must do the following:

1. HITCH POINT.   As you know,  the hitch point can be very critical

Depending upon the type of sled used and height of the connection to

The sled, the hitch point on the tractor may have to be varied.  If

Possible, review the type if sled being used before you go to the

Contest or make your pull. In most cases, the optimum pull point is

10” to 12” above the ground level. The standard hitch on the Elec-Trak

tractor is designed for conventional use and is not the best hitch

point for pulling contests. We will have an optional heavy duty

hitch  available in a few months, however many dealers have already

made  up their own hitch for these events. A heavy rope over each

side of the axle housing will do a better job than the conventional hitch

(hitch)  was designed lower for the lawn cart and sweeper). Be very

careful  when  hooking up to the sled that your hitch point to the

Elec-Trak tractor is not lower than the hitch point to the sled. If

The point of hitch is lower on the tractor than on the sled, the

Weight will tend to lift the rear wheels off the ground when you

Begin to pull. You want some down pull on the rear of the tractor.

If you are allowed extra weight, fill tires for maximum advantage

2. TIRE PRESSURE Between 4 to 8lbs. of tire pressure in the rear wheels

gives optimum traction. You must be careful that you do not reduce

the tire pressure to much, or you will end up breaking the bead and

have a flat tire during the pull. Extra large (width) tires can also

be used effectively, especially when filled.

3. GEAR SELECTION   In a pull contest from a dead stop, the trans-

axle lever should be in the LL position. In this position, the tractor

has maximum pull capability. In a time/weight contest (i.e., load-

ing a moving sled use L position.

4. SPEED CONTROL LEVER POSITION  The speed/control lever must be in the

THIRD position for maximum torque. This third position is located

By listening to the clicks as you push the throttle forward. You

Will hear three (3)  distinct clicks from the control panel area.

You should be sure to recognize this third position so that when you

Enter the pull  contest, you can get into the right speed control setting.

When starting the pull content, immediately push the lever into this third

Position and LEAVE IT there during the entire pull.

5. ADDING WEIGHT   In most cases, additional   weight will not be needed

for traction. However, to assure the front end does not lift in

weight/speed  contests, it may be advisable to leave the mower attached.

Keep it raised to it’s  full  lift position.

I found this in some Elec-Trak  things, Looks like it might from 1972
