You asked about the Sams Club Golf Cart batteries ---- I bought a new set in the spring to go in my tractor. I have been completely satisifed with them so far. I believe the manufacturer on mine was Exide. Some are other manufacturers. Stay with the Golf batteries. They are most "bang for the buck".

As others have mentioned, everthing on the tractor is not 36 volt. Therefore, you have another reason to not use 12 volt batteries (you can't get the correct voltage multiple). All the things you thought of using and mentioned have already been thought of by others. Not to poo-poo any new ideas, but generally these ideas have not worked out to the benefit of the owner for one reason or the other.
