The controller you want to buy from Alltrax will work fine on almost any
0-5K pot.  It doesn't take a expensive pot to control it.  But Make sure 
you
get one that is enclosed !  The Open frame type pots will get dirty real
fast on a ET

The Curtis PB-6 is a great pot to use.  It has a nice stainless steel box
and control arm and spring mounted on it, but it is also a bit pricy, 
around
$60 I think.  We are currently researching a good source of pots to offer
with our new Sep-X controller and will let everyone know when we find a
reasonably priced unit.

I am still working on the 21st Century B145. In it I will be
replacing most of the 1970 electo mechanical stuff with a Alltrex Series
controller. I am also going to replace the B145 Speed and Direction stick
with a single axis Industrial Joystick. I am currently looking at a new
Sennett S24. However, I would like to tap into the collective wisdom of the
list, on the subject of industrial joysticks.
They are a pretty pricey item, information on sources and prices  is
also more than welcome
