Re: (ET) Chain saw availability ?
Yes they still exist, but it is a popular accessory and a bit hard to find
-
I know. They do turn up- best place to look is elec-trak.org classifieds
and
ebay. They show up on ebay sometimes along with a tractor - you may be able
to get the seller or the buyer to split it out. Don't know if Bill Gunn has
any.
They are small but work well. The heavy cord can be a nuisance but much
less
so than a gas saw. The bar is an Oregon but is NLA, so buy one with a good
bar. The chain is 1/4" pitch I think and is still available - though
probably not in anti-kickback. I've been using mine to trim limbs and
stuff
and it's a joy to use.
If anyone is rebuilding one and you need gear grease let me know. I bought
a
can of the correct stuff and it's enough for several dozen saws.
The saw fits in well with my philosophy :
"The complexity of your life is directly proportional to how many gas
engines you own - 2 cycles count double."
