Just guessing, since the model was not specified......... It isn't a
"dirty contacts" problem. The plastic that the stationary terminals are
mounted in has melted, allowing the contacts to get far enough out of
alignment, that the disc can no longer hit them both.
Bite the bullet, buy two of them, and replace them both. If you don't
replace them both, you WILL replace the other one, within a year.
