This may come as a shock, but I agree. I have both an e-15 and an e-12.
The 15 burns relays. I have rebuilt the circuit board. The 12 has never
had an electrical problem. Mechanically they are very similar, so I'd vote
for the 12. By GE's estimate 3 (gas) HP less. But mine works just fine.

Gonna start a controversy, I've been using an e12 for about 25 years,
tills a 60 x 75 garden including spring fitting, when I mowed it did
about 2 acres and cleared snow out of a 100 ft driveway - no problem
with power.
I think it's easier to maintain as the electrics are simpler - BTW, they
all use the same size batteries.
