Sorry, getting older, forgot the last step. losen the motor bolts and move for the motor forward so you can see the rub.

Check under the tractor by the drive motor pulley. If the strap that normally holds the battery cable next to the frame breaks, it will allow the cable to rub on the pulley and wear threw the insulation so you have a short between the battery wires and the pulley. The tie wrap/strap will normally be fed threw the 1/4 inch hole, on the side of the frame, around the cables and then back threw the hole and then threw tie rap to hold. It is hard to see, it's best to support the rear of the tractor, remove the right rear tire, lower the rear end to see the rub. Hope this will help.
