Chris, to really check those batteries you need a "load tester". You
may be able to borrow one from a battery shop but I wouldn't count on
it. What is does is puts a fixed load (like 100 amps) across the
battery for a fixed time and reads the voltage at the end of test.
A hygrometer will tell you charge level but can't tell capacity.
