Yes, I believe that the original cables are 4 gauge, so would be fine to 
make new ones from the same (or 2 gauge if you really want to upgrade).

Use welding cable for great flexibility, or regular automotive battery 
cables are fairly flexible. Don't use THNN or similar wire from the 
local Big Box home improvement center as it is way too stiff.
