Thanks for your input. How about an E-15 drive motor,could that be run off 
of the accessory plug and should that motor have enough power and 
durability?

Harold, I think I'd look very seriously at something like the motor from a 
snowblower.  Ther are a lot of rusted out ones up here in the north but 
the motors are fine.

A spreader takes a lot of power, that 1 hp or so mower motor won't hack it.
