RE: (ET) E15 problems

first of all, my seat switch has been disconnected by a jumper wire joining the 2 wires.  i don't know if this is terribly safe or not.  But the seat switch was not functioning.  Also, i'm assuming that the break switch disconnect is the Power Disconnect.  The lever works quite well in both positions.  Behind the "wall" i can see that 3 fairly large wires are connected quite firmly.  Anyway the fuel gauge does not indicate anything in either position.  It seems like i should be looking at how the fuel gauge is supposed to be connected.  Until that shows some signs of "life", i don't think anything is going to work. thanks

Your voltage is good.
First places to look are the break-switch disconnect; if the break isn't returning to full upright, only the lights and lift will work. Very common, oil the shaft of the break and/or replace the return spring.
Second place is the seat switch. If it doesn't close only the lights and lift will work. This one depends on the condition of the seat hinges and how well they position. You should hear a 'click' as relays close if the key is on and you sit on the switch.

I'm not one of the regulars conferring on various matters of the E15, but on Saturday when i really needed this to perform (first time since fall) i couldn't even get the fuel level gauge to even work! It was way down below emptyI had 2 acres of grass to mow and my wife and I did it with our little Lawn Boy! Took 5 hours! So, I need some help getting this E15 going again. Unfortunately, the tractor is 1.5 hrs away at my mother in laws home. But, I took pictures with the digital camera of behind the "firewall", in case if someone asks me a question, i might be able to see where to go.
First of all, i need to know how to get the gauge to start working, which is probably why nothing seemed to turn on, except for the lift and lights. Second, I think the Power Disconnect lever is supposed to be pushed down while charging, although the charger makes same sound either place. The batteries were at 42 Volts, up from 40 a few hours earliers. Third, i can't tell if the key to go on should be upright? The diagram doesn't make clear which is on or off (also the same with power disconnect lever). Fourth, we have all new batteries from last spring, so battery power isn't the problem. Would appreciate any help...
