Many moons ago the spring which locks the dozer blade to the left, straight
ahead, or right position broke. The rear end hooked into the lock, the
front end into the blade carrier. As the blade was swung from left to
right, the spring dragged across the forward edge of the toothed plate
which accomplishes the locking. That dragging wore the spring on the
underside and one day it let go.
My repair used a large washer which would fit the pivot bolt underneath
the nut and locknut. Near the outer diameter I drilled a 1/4" hole for
the front end of the spring, This lifts the spring up above the toothed
plate and has proven satisfactory.
