Re: (ET) It's ALIVE!!!

Chris:

It's been a long time since I had mine apart a few times. I can't remember, for sure, but after taking off the cover, do you see the "buttons" for each microswitch? The "slide" plate that progressively presses one microswitch, then, two, three, etc. as you want to pick up speed, should be visable to you when you take the cover off. Make sure that you have the power disconnect switch turned off when you are into this area, so you don't "loose" your whole wiring harness, in a "flash" ! If these things are not visable to you, then you'll have to remove another layer of the box. If they are visable, "do not" go any deeper into the box if things are working properly except for the slide not returning properly. Someone mentioned some cleaners that would work good, but be careful as some cleaners will cause some of the plastics to get "sticky" which is what we have already happening due to age, other cleaners cause some plastic to "explode" . That's what happened to my rear battery plug that I wrote to you about (that I found didn't really go out). I'll try ot find the other info, tomorrow, and get it to you again. May even send you some things via snail mail to your address on your "resume"page if its still operable.

Later,

Gary

How did you take apart the foot switch box? I took off the outside cover,
however it looks like all the magic happens deep on the inside....

The charger doesn't seem to turn off at the "off" position; does the whole
transformer stop humming when the dial goes to off, or does it continue to
hum without putting power in the batteries?

It's been about 3 hours, so I'll probbaly go out and unplug the tractor just
to be safe. I'll start charging again tomorrow and give it about 4 hours
(plus the three now). The charge needle is almost at the top of the white;
does the needle have any sort of bearing on the state of charge?
