(ET) How many speeds?
Hey Jeff:
From Lee:
Well, it's certainly true that the most efficient (and powerful) speed is
when none of the resistors are in the circuit.
My experience with the speeds:
The lower speeds are real handy sometimes, especially when you're trying to
park the tractor in a precise spot, maybe to hook to an appliance. Or when
trying to back up with a trailer. But right, don't use them to substitute
for a lower gear for any length of time.
The higher speeds are not all that helpful unless you are going to be going
long
distances with the tractor. On mine, the highest speed throws the 'use'
meter into the red even on level ground, so the only time I ever use it is
when going down hill.
Tell your kids to watch that meter. If the hand gets much into the yellow
they are definitely wasting juice.
There should be such a meter on cars. Come to think of it I guess there
is, on some of the upscale cars that I'm to cheap to buy.
