RE: (ET) Wheelhorse Models

Wheelhorse made a C-145 that was based on the E-15. The B-145 is a lighter
version of the E-12; unlike the E-12, the B-145 will not successfully
handle ground engaging attachments, this from Bill Gunn.
The B-145 does use the J-2 speed controller common to some E-12's. My E-12
has more hardware, more complex wiring and a different (more powerful?)
traction motor than the B-145... or so it appears in the B-145 parts
manual.
Tranny looks similar. I can't scan the B-145 manual....glad to send it to
anyone for distribution to the list. JJC

Hi Steve,

Wheel Horse bought out GE's line of ET tractors sometime around 1975.

I own GE E20s, E15s, and WH C-185s and WH B-145s (as well as many
others) The C-185 WH is based on the E20 and the B-145 is based on the
E15. They are all LARGE frame tractors, all share the same equipment and
vary only in the electricals. (which WH simplified in order to ease
repairs and perhaps price. Less complicated electronic boards for sure)
The attachments on these models are totally interchangeable, WH fitting
the older ETs and visa versa. The ET 20s enjoy smoother speed changes
(as there are more of them) The 20 and the 185 have foot speed control
while the 15 and 145 have hand speed control, as well as less power and
fewer speed changes than their more powerful cousins.

The WH plow attaches at the rear axle and is far superior and less
strain on the lift, than the older GE plow which attaches just before
the front axle. It is pushed directly by the rear wheels rather than off
of the front frame.

Later on (sometime after 1977) Wheel Horse started using their gas
frames and changed the whole ET concept. But that's another story.

My web site has a few other insights although take the exact dates with
some grain of salt.

Hope this helps.
