(ET) Main Disconnect

 - Greetings -

Many thanks to Jim Fisk who got me to thinking about the main disconnect
switch again. My E-15 has the early push=ON/pull=OFF disconnect. The
large size of the knob suggests that a swing of the hips may push it to
ON and fingeers of both hands may be needed to pull it to OFF.

The later design has a push in and aturn to latch for ON and a turn the
other direction for OFF. Much simpler until it got flaky. Think I took
it apart twice before really discovering the difficulty. Latching is
accomplished by catching a ROLPIN in a bracket which holds the handle
in. The ROLPIN is pressed thru a hole in the handle shaft. When the
ppin works its way to one side of the shaft, in the ON position. it
barely holds the shaft in for enough to make contact. Hence flaky
operation. Yes, recentering the pin is what it takes. Tying it down
with LocTite or similar stud and bearing lockhelps keep it where it
belongs.

Hope this helps.
